PLANNING APPROVALS CONTRIBUTE TO GROWTH OF MOORABOOL SHIRE

In the period from September 2008 to 30 June 2009, the planning department of Moorabool Shire Council issued 371 planning permits.  For a 10 month period, this result represents a major contribution to growth and economic development in the order of $31,232,526!  Extrapolated to a full year, it represents 446 planning permits with an approximate value of $37.48m

Approvals for planning require complex assessments against a range of measures, overlays, policies of the Shire and State Government.  The speed of approvals is related to the quality of the application.  Quality documentation is a first step in assessing and approving submissions.

Peter Hawkins, Executive Manager Planning and Building is pleased with the permit results.  In the final quarter of the 2009 financial year, 69 permits were issued and valued at just on $8m.  Statutory planning is certainly contributing to the growth of Moorabool Shire.
