Aged and Disability Services
Council’s Aged and Disability Services assists older residents to maintain independence in their own homes, and provide support for people with a disability and their carers. Programmes include:
- Home care
- Personal care
- Respite care
- Adult day activity programmes
- Meals on wheels
- Community meals
- Senior Citizens centres
- Home maintenance
Community Development
Community Development provides a range of services via individual service units including:
Youth Services - who work in partnership with young people, schools and community agencies to develop information, provide services and promote the wellbeing of young people throughout the Moorabool Shire
Community Development - who work with community groups within the Shire, assisting with committee matters, funding applications, promotion of events and festivals, assets management and emergency recovery management in conjunction with Department of Human Services
Recreation Development - which provides recreation planning, services and programmes
Arts and Culture Liaisons - which identifies and supports the growing arts and culture sector to enhance the Shire as a dynamic, diverse and vibrant community. It also provides support for the development of plans and strategies, encourages the promotion, development and support to arts, culture and events within the Shire
Library Service
Council is a member of the Central Highlands Regional Library Service and provides a Mobile Book Service to outer districts of the Shire, as well as servicing a comprehensive lending library in Bacchus Marsh
Family Day Care
Family Day Care is an accredited childcare service that provides affordable and flexible quality home-based child care for children up to 12 years of age. Children are cared for in small groups in a safe, secure and stimulating home environment in registered careprovider’s homes. Family day care has a network of professional careproviders who are supported by the Scheme’s Coordination Unit staff.
Family day care offers flexible hours of care to match family's individual needs which include:
- Full-time care
- Part-time care
- Casual care
- Before and after school care
- School holiday care
Environmental Health
Council’s Environmental Health Service Unit aims to protect and promote public health via a range of services designed to protect the environment and community. Services vary such as the enforcement of food safety regulations; promotion of health and hygiene standards; wastewater treatments; and immunisation programmes. The Unit investigates environmental matters which may impact or endanger public health, and works closely with other agencies including the Environment Protection Authority (EPA) and the Department of Human Services (DHS).
